Guided Walks

The Ramblers' Association organises group walks all around the country; to see a list go to the RA's Group Walks Finder.

This page summarises the walks arranged by the Inner London Area, its groups and volunteers. Anyone is welcome to attend these walks, whether a member of the RA or not; though we of course hope that if you enjoy the walks and wish to continue walking with us then you will join as a member.

Alternatively, maybe you'd prefer to guide yourself rather than joining an organised walk, and are just looking for some recommended routes in the area; in which case take a look at our Ideas for Walks page.

Please note that although walking is one of the safest of all sporting and leisure activities, accidents may still occasionally occur. So please take care whether walking by yourself or in a group. When walking in a group, take notice of any guidance by the walk leader, but realise that it is you yourself who has ultimate responsibility for your safety. In particular be careful when walking on or crossing roads and don't assume that just because the person in front of you crossed the road that it also safe for you to do so!

Family Walks

The new Inner London Area Familes Group organises short (approx three miles) walks for children and their parents in local parkland and countryside.

The walks are on the first Sunday of each month. For further information see the Families Group page.

Waterways Walks

Once a fortnight over the summer months, committee member Mike Biggs leads an evening walk along one of London's many waterways. These walks are open to all members and also to the general public at no charge, and no booking is required.

For further information see the Waterways Walks page.

Saturday Strolls

The Inner London Area organises a series of short (five to six miles) walks at the weekends aimed at new walkers and those who prefer slow and gentle walks. These take place on paths and open spaces in and around London.

These walks are open to the public and take place mainly on alternate Saturday afternoons. All start and finish points are within London Travelcard zones. Just turn up to any walk that interests you. Each stroll lasts about 2½ to 3½ hours and includes a refreshment break where possible.

The walks are listed on the Inner London Area section of the RA's Walks Finder.

For further information contact Les Douglas on dougramb@yahoo.co.uk.

Local Group Walks

If you would like to walk with one of the local groups of the Inner London Area, see the RA's online Groups Walks Finder or go to the group's website.

Ramblers Holidays

If you would like to go further afield, or try something a little more exotic, then maybe Ramblers Holidays would interest you. This is a sister organisation to the RA that organises walking holidays in the UK, Europe, and all over the world. Check them out at www.ramblersholidays.co.uk.
