To help you choose the right adventure, all of our group activities are categorized by difficulty. We want to ensure that every walker has a safe, comfortable, and enjoyable day on the trail. Whether you are looking for a gentle stroll through a scenic park or a challenging all-day trek in the countryside, understanding our system ensures you will find a route that perfectly matches your pace and stamina.

When browsing our upcoming  walks finder, you will typically see walks classified under these standard difficulty levels:
  • Easy: Ideal for anyone without serious mobility challenges or severe health issues. These walks generally follow smooth, level, and well-surfaced paths.
  • Leisurely: Perfect for reasonably fit individuals who have at least a little walking experience. Routes may include modest hills, unsurfaced rural paths, and occasional stiles. Sturdy trainers or walking shoes are recommended.
  • Moderate: Designed for regular walkers with a good level of fitness. These walks move at a brisker pace and can include steeper paths, open country, or rough terrain. Supportive walking boots and waterproof clothing are essential.
  • Strenuous: Recommended for experienced hikers with an above-average fitness level. These are longer, faster-paced day trips that often involve steep climbs and rough conditions—frequently featured on our weekend trips away.
If you are ever unsure about whether a specific distance or terrain is right for you, please reach out to the volunteer walk leader listed in the details beforehand. They will be more than happy to help you gauge the difficulty so you can step out with confidence.
