The 5th paragraph on page 5 of our guidance for Loop section 15 states: "Cross Oxhey Lane via the island at the lights, and go through the waymarked gap where there was once a kissing gate. The path climbs a grassy track beside a fence going across scrubland to reach another kissing gate in the hedge (with waymarker) which borders Grim’s Dyke Golf Course".
The area to the right of the Loop path has recently been cleared to bare earth in preparation for the building of 8 houses as shown by the image below this text. This walker points out the problem that this stretch is going to run alongside a construction site. Building eight houses may mean a lot of heavy traffic around the Loop route.
In fact the path is not blocked. It used to be the case that walking from Oxhey Lane there was only a single narrow path to follow. Now walkers are presented with a wide open space ahead with the path still there on the left. The path is not very obvious as shown by the red arrow on the image to the right.
There is now an entrance to the left of the padlocked gate on to the building site and if you keep to the left of the cleared site there is a Loop waymarker on a small stake at the start of the track to the Grim’s Dyke golf course, the track has also been cleared.
