In September we reported that parts of section 8 of the Loop were closed while works were underway to improve the paths.
At the start of January the whole route was open - though it is possible that there will be further temporary closures while the works continue in some sections.
The good news is that lengths of the path that were previously very muddy have now been massively improved with new gravel tracks as shown by the length past the squirrel carving between the railway bridge and Malden Way as described on page 7 of our walk guidance for this section.
Extensive dredging of the river has taken place north the A3 where long lengths of the path are now bordered by a deadwood hedge. The path skirts round a new pond connected to the river. Furhter work on the path is likely to happen here.
