An announcement on the Facebook page of the Friends of the River Crane Environment warns that the path through Brazil Mill Wood will be closed for up to eight weeks from Monday 27th July for a major upgrade.
A report from a group of walkers at the staert of August confierms that the barrriers are now in place. This group found a way round but it involved walking along a major road
The notice shown below states that the closure is of the path from Cygent Avenue all the way to Baber Bridge. See the map at the top of page 10 of our walk guidance for this section.
So it looks as if the impact will be to make the alternative route impassable. Walkers will need to start on the original route across Hounslow Heath but then to find a way to reach Staines Road and walk along it to Baber Bridge. Not very attractive but we can hope that the works will prove worthwhile in the long term.
We would welcome more feedback from walkers who have negotiated a detour around the closed path.
