In January we reported that walking conditions around much of the Loop were in a very poor state because there was so much mud.
Now we are getting reports that the dry March and sunny early April have transformed the paths. Walking now is a delight. The woodland sections are brightened by bluebells and wood anemones. The field edges feature the blossoms of blackthorn, hawthorn and a variety of fruit trees.
The image to the left shows the current state of a path in Crofton Wood early in section 3. The image below shows the same path as it was in February.
According to a recent report the notoriously muddy field running down to Pinnerwood House in section 14 has dried up now.
The only downside, perhaps, is that some heavily walked paths that were once very muddy can be uneven underfoot once they have dried out.
